Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my birthday! 33 years, and I'm truly ready for a fresh start this year. I tackled my special day head on by being busy busy busy. Filling my time up ensured I wouldn't spend all day treating myself or allowing slips just because it was my day. I knew the evening would bring some sort of celebratory confection, so I tried to get ahead of it. I was feeling motivated and driven because I discovered something amazing: My holiday gains were not permanent! My pre-holiday losses ARE! Without doing much of anything besides ceasing the practice of shoveling biscotti and candy into my mouth, my weight returned back to pre-feast levels. Hooray!

I wanted to keep it going. As a birthday present to myself, I laced up some shiny new sneakers and hit play on a new workout. I picked my birthday to start Slim in 6. My gift to myself will be a new body. I'll review the program later. I have to get more than one workout under my belt before I can report on it.

For dinner we had a sane, low carb-friendly diner of skirt steak (seasoned with chipotle - my fave) and roasted brussel sprouts.

But really, what's a birthday without some treats. I got a work out, I ate well the rest of they day. I even did a run through Target. Literally. I ran. I thought I had more time.

Baby Drama was the last kid in the infant room at daycare. I had the bittersweet honor of having her crawl at hyperspeed across the room to me. I felt so bad that I was on the later side. But her smiling face made my day. We played and tickled until Daddy came home with food and treats. And BEAUTIFUL white roses. Totally made my day!

I think I ended up with an 80/20 day - I was well behaved 80% of the day. I'd have given myself more credit, but I splurged on amazing cupcakes from Magnolia bakery that my hubs brought home. Their s'mores cupcake was totally and completely worth it!

We're going to NYC this weekend to have some fun...so I really have to be on my best behavior the rest of this week!
